Why are my ice cubes hollow?
Do not attempt service or replace parts of the appliance unless referred to in the owner's manual. Follow all safety precautions provided in the owner's manual.
If your ice cubes are hollow, there is not enough water entering the ice maker. First, remove the cover on the ice maker. (On a side by side refrigerator, this cover is on the left side of the ice maker.) On the front or side of the ice maker, there is a small knob that controls the water intake amount. If the knob is turned to the right, it will decrease the amount of water entering the ice maker. If the knob is turned to the left, it will increase the amount of water entering the ice maker. The knob can only be turned ¼ of a turn each time; therefore, more than one adjustment may be required.

The maximum adjustment is one full turn in either direction. Additional rotation could damage the ice maker.

If adjustment of the water level knob does not resolve this, confirm there is 20 to 100 pounds per square inch of water pressure in the water line feeding the refrigerator.
