| My dryer is taking a long time to dry my clothes. | ||
| Do not attempt service or replace parts of the appliance unless referred to in the owner's manual. Follow all safety precautions provided in the owner's manual. | ||
| Clothing should be
sorted according to fabric types. Cotton items take longer to dry versus
permanent press items. When using the automatic cycle, the timer is
advanced by the temperature; therefore, a mixed fabric type load gives a
false temperature reading to the timer. Some items may remain damp and
other items dry. Ensure that clothes were spun dry in the washer. Do not overload the dryer. There should be space in the dryer for the clothes to tumble freely. Also, a load can be too small. Just a few small pieces will not tumble properly and will take longer to dry. For small loads, add a couple of large towels or non-lint shedding items to aid in tumbling. Check the venting for obstructions or blockages such as lint build-up or any other foreign material. Make sure the weather hood on the outside flaps freely. Make sure the lint filter has been cleaned and the dryer is vented correctly according to the Installation Instructions provided with the dryer. Amana recommends only rigid or flexible metal venting. The result of poor venting is longer drying times and excessive lint accumulation. |
